Dundonald Castle; Scotland.

Dundonald Castle; Scotland.

As most of you know Jamie and I planned and booked a weekend trip to Berlin – but we are complete dafties and missed our flight! πŸ˜‚ Honestly, we woke up later than what we should have and then got held up at the security department haha. Anyway, we missed the flight and needed to plod along home feeling blue!

We decided to have a relaxing weekend instead and I managed to convince Jad to take a little trek up to Dundonald Castle.

It was still pretty cold and snowy so we only planned a small trip to the castle. We headed to the Visitor Centre and bought some tickets – which by the way you really don’t need to do πŸ˜‚ seriously, we spent Β£9 and were in the castle for 10mins tops!! I think you only need to pay if you are having a tour guide, which we didn’t do.

We then started the small walk up the pretty steep hill and it tired me out!! You all know I am a keen hillwalker but due to being a little under the weather recently this hill killed me haha! Need to get my fitness back!! πŸ‘πŸΌ

We stopped for some snaps outside of the castle and then made our way into to castle!

Inside the castle was still orignial brick work which I loved. It also had little signs to show where things would be, e.g. the grand hall banquet table!

There was a large spiral staircase that took us up to a large open area and helped us see through the original window slits.

I had a great time exploring a new nearby castle and hope to visit a lot more in the future!

Have you visited Dundonald Castle? Or have you been in any other Scottish Castles?

Funny, there is a Dundonald here too, about 6 miles away.

We’d be very familiar with the Bruce family here, If Robert II built that castle, then his Great Uncle Edward laid siege to my home town a few years earlier. Came to a bad end though.

Shame you missed your hols though, bit of a pain!
