It’s been a while! The last time I published a blog post was back in August 2019 and as you can tell a lot has changed since then. I don’t have any real reason for not fully engaging on here other than the lack of time I now have being a busy Mum and teacher. It is stressful. But now, with the Global Pandemic I feel it is the right time to dip my toe back into the blogging world. Properly, not just on my Instagram!
So, I thought instead of diving head first into my usual bloggy posts I would send you all a virtual update on what I have been doing for the last 9 Months. Of course if you already follow me on Instagram you will be all up to date, but stick around for a wee read haha. It’ll beat the boredom pals!
I went back to work full time in August 2019. For those of you that are not aware, I am a Primary Teacher. This year I had Primary 2 and I absolutely loved it. Without a doubt my favourite stage. My wee class is full of amazing little cheribs and I have made such great relationships with them all and their parents too.
I was also promoted not long after returning to work and have taking the role of Acting Principal Teacher. At first I thought there was no way I should even be considered for the post, however my confidence has developed and I am LOVING the new responsibilities. Challenging but fulfilling!
Work started on the downstairs part of the house in January and we were lucky enough to have all the big jobs completed before lockdown was in full swing. We are using this extra time to do small jobs here and there to make sure things run smoothly when life is back to ‘normal’. Th living room has been completely transformed into a cosy area with a big couch, wooden floors and a huge green wall. This makes folk laugh, two bluenoses with a green wall – brilliant.
We are still adding personal touches around the house and still to finish the spare room and start the next big projects – kitchen and garden!
All is well in my crazy head at the moment and I feel more in control of my flares of anxiety. I have been given lots of opportunities online and through different medias to ‘share my story’ of mental health and lonliness and raise awareness of how it really can affect anyone. I feel these opportunities have helped clear my own head in a sense, as well as help lots of other people! I still have my wobbly days, but with support I fighting fit!
I’m still married haha! That fella deserves a medal. Our Jamie is doing fine too, we have enjoyed all this extra time at home together with Jack and really trying to embrace the positives of the lockdown!
And lastly, my Instagram group has exploded! I have honestly met so many amazing pals on that daft wee app. We have big events, daily chats and support each other like nothing I have ever experienced before! As well as the amazing friendships I have had lots of great opportunities to work alongside different brands and I have loved every second of it!
At the start of the year I launched my huge Charity Challenge raising funds for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. I entered loads of races, including multiple 5ks and 10ks, and all four of the 26 Mile Kiltwalks, but of course, Coronavirus has taken over and lots of the events are being cancelled. I did manage my first race of the year in February though. The Winter Warmer 5k – I did it in 41mins and I am hoping to improve my time slpwly but surely. I also had the chance to visit the hospital and see all the amazing things they are doing to support the lives of the patients and their families. I feel my visit deserves a Blog Post on it’s own so I won’t go into too much detail.
And ofcourse, the main part of my life, wee Jackamo! What a roaster he has turned out to be haha! He is honestly thr funniest and weirdest little boy ever. The poor soul has managed to inherit both sides of craziness into one wee fella. One a more serious note, wee Jack is doing amazing! He is now approaching 20 Months, and has learned so much. He makes me so proud every single day and honestly feel like the luckiest Mum in the world.
So there you have it folks, my wee life update and stepping stone back into Adventures with Amanda. Please follow or join the mail list and I promise to tey get back into the swing of things.
How are you all doing? Let me know and remember I am always here for a chin wag!
